Childcare and Preschool Website Design

Childcare and Preschool Website Design

Websites for Preschools and Early Childhood Centers

A parent choosing childcare is making one of the most important decisions of the year, often from a phone during a lunch break. They want to know what programs you offer for their child’s age, what a real day looks like, and how to come see it for themselves.

Plenty of established centers have years of trust in their neighborhood and a website that doesn’t show any of it. Surge River builds childcare websites that make your programs easy to understand, make booking a tour the obvious next step, and that your staff can keep current without calling a developer.

Work With Us

What a Childcare Center Website Needs

Parents decide in seconds whether to keep reading or move on to the next center.

Programs organized by age

Toddlers, preschool, Pre-K, after-school, and summer camp each get their own page, with schedules, hours, and what a typical day includes.

A clear path to book a tour

A "Book a Tour" button on every page that leads to a short request form, so parents never have to hunt for a phone number.

Details for each location

If you run more than one site, each program should list the hours and phone number for its own location, not one generic contact block.

Real photos and parent reviews

A gallery of your actual classrooms and activities, a live social feed, and testimonials from other families build trust before the first visit.

A calendar staff can update

An events page your team can edit themselves and share with parents, instead of printing flyers or sending separate emails.

Online job applications

Hiring teachers is a constant job. A careers page where candidates can apply and upload a resume online brings in more applicants than a phone number.

Stepping Stones early childhood center website

Case Study

Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones is an early childhood center in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, with programs for toddlers through Pre-K, plus extended day, after-school, and summer camp across two locations. They had run on the same WordPress site for 25 years. It was slow, hard to update, and had no contact form anywhere.

Timed to the center's 25th anniversary, we rebuilt the brand and the website from scratch:

  • A new brand identity with a muted palette and serif type, so the center reads as established and professional instead of clip-art childcare
  • Program pages organized by age, each listing the hours and phone number for its own location
  • A "Book a Tour" call to action throughout the site, leading to a tour request form
  • A staff-managed events calendar, a photo gallery, a live social feed, a testimonials page, and a careers page with online applications

Since launch, more parents are visiting the site, and tour inquiries and job applications come in steadily through the new forms.

"We had an amazing experience working with Mike Wong on our preschool's brand-new website and logo! From start to finish, Mike was incredibly easy to work with, professional, responsive, and attentive to our vision. He did a fabulous job bringing our preschool's brand to life. Our new website is beautiful, welcoming, and professional, and our new logo perfectly represents who we are as a school. We couldn't be happier with the final results!"

Childcare Website Design That Staff Can Actually Run

Most childcare centers don't have a marketing team. The director or office manager updates the website between everything else, so a site that breaks every time someone edits it simply stops getting updated. We build on modern, fast infrastructure and hand over a site your team can manage, with the calendar and other changing content set up for easy edits.

Childcare Center Website FAQs

It depends on the number of programs and locations, and whether you also need branding. See our pricing page for current packages, or contact us for a quote.
