Canopy Collective

Canopy Collective is a premier short-term rental co-hosting company offering curated stays across the Catskills and Hudson Valley, with properties ranging from secluded creek-side cabins to Scandinavian-inspired retreats.

Challenge

When Canopy Collective came to us, the business was growing fast. Their property portfolio was expanding across multiple New York locations, their co-hosting services were broadening, and their amenity offerings were becoming a genuine differentiator. The problem was that none of that momentum was reflected online.

Their existing Squarespace site had light messaging around co-hosting but was nowhere near complete for a company at their stage. For bookings, guests were pushed to a third-party platform with no centralized way to browse all available properties in one place. There was no dedicated space to highlight their amenities or the local experiences they curate for guests. The site simply couldn’t keep up with where the brand was headed.

Their goal was clear: let the personality shine. Canopy Collective has a distinct 60s and 70s chic aesthetic, rustic yet upscale, and they wanted a site that felt as considered and intentional as the properties themselves. They needed a solution that served two audiences well, guests looking to book a stay and property owners considering co-hosting their home.

Solution

Rather than starting from scratch with the visual identity, we saw an opportunity to preserve what was working. We kept their brand colors intact and brought in new typography to freshen the feel without losing the character they had built. The navigation was restructured from the ground up to give both guests and prospective property owners a clear, intuitive path through the site.

The centerpiece of the redesign is the property search and booking experience. Guests can now browse all available destinations in one place, filtering by location across the Catskills and Hudson Valley. Each property listing features rich photo galleries, detailed descriptions, guest capacity, and reviews, giving guests everything they need to make a confident decision before booking. The site also surfaces the full scope of their amenity offerings, from chef-led dinners to in-residence spa treatments, which were previously invisible to anyone visiting the old site.

The architecture of the redesign was intentional: guest bookings first, co-hosting services second. Both audiences are served, but the priority is clear and the experience reflects it.

Final Result

“Surge River is a fantastic firm. With decades of experience working with web design companies of all sizes, I can confidently say that Mike brought professionalism, expertise, and real peace of mind to the entire process. I tasked him with several UX challenges, and he delivered thoughtful solutions that only elevated our site. The finished website for our short-term rental business exceeded anything I had imagined and clearly differentiates us in the market. I highly recommend!”

Since launching, the new site has become a genuine asset for the business. With a centralized booking experience, a stronger brand presence, and a clear path for both guests and property owners, Canopy Collective now has a platform that works as hard as they do. The redesign not only raised the bar visually but gave the business the infrastructure to convert interest into bookings and grow their property portfolio with confidence.
