Challenge

When Wear LIC approached me to redesign their site, they had used SquareSpace as the platform of choice for their e-commerce business. The checkout system was lacking and clunky, the payment options were limited, the navigation was difficult to use and locate collections, there was also no way for customers to apply filters to the products/collections to narrow down search criteria.

They wanted a redesign and were open to moving away from SquareSpace if that meant a better customer and checkout experience. The site was also very minimal, lacking any kind of color/branding scheme and had limited product descriptions.

Solution

In the redesign, while still minimal—it incorporates a bright blue color for branding in the header and footer with the navigation more easily accessible for desktop and mobile with product imagery immediately visible in the navigation. Additionally, they previously had a look book from their previous site that was at the bottom of the page, making it difficult to be seen. Being thoughtful, it was relocated and turned into a hero slideshow for the homepage.

Their product lines were broken up into clear categories/collections on the home page and includes a section explaining to customers why they should shop from them. The collection pages echo more of an industrial Long Island City feel. And the product filtering system is robust, allowing customers to sort by various criteria and enabling them to more easily find what they’re looking for.

Since the store relaunched, Wear LIC and its customers have been enjoying the redesign allowing for a smoother e-commerce experience with multiple payment options. Additionally WearLIC can take advantage of Shopify’s amazing ecosystem of 3rd party apps and POS system. Even switching to Shopify’s UI alone enables them to efficiently manage their store, making it a game changer for their growing business.
